Letson Going To Florida State
Plant standout Doug Letson, one of Hillsborough County's top boys golfers in each of the
last three seasons, has verbally committed to Florida State University.
Letson said Wednesday the Seminoles recently extended a scholarship offer, and he made his verbal commitment Tuesday evening.
"It is very relieving," Letson said. "I have a lot of hard work ahead of me, though, but it's definitely exciting to be a part of a program like FSU."
Letson claimed individual medalist honors at the Class 2A-District 10 tournament this season after
finishing as runner-up in 2006 and 2007. In each of the last three seasons, he has posted top-10 finishes at the region tournament.
Letson said he will sign with the Seminoles during the early signing period, which begins Wednesday.
